“Five grand for a billboard on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard?!” exclaims our imaginary Chancellor of the Exchequer. “That’s a lot of dough!”

Here at the Alliance to End Gun Violence, our treasurer, John White, has maybe picked not the best day to broach the topic with the Chancellor. “That’s right,” he says. “For the month of June. But it’s worth it. Thousands of people a day are seeing it, getting the message about safe storage. Plus, we’ve been interviewed several times for TV news.”

The Chancellor frowns. “I’m all for that. But it’s still a big hit to take all at once. You’d better figure out a way to defray some of those costs. Get out there and do some tricks.”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know. Sell ads. Sell t-shirts. Or do that bike thingee again, where you ride like a maniac for days and days, and people donate just so you’ll stop going on about it.”

So, braving dastardly hills, fitful sleep and an unforgiving bicycle seat, John takes to The Road again in a fundraiser to help end gun violence. The ride fits in with his long-held bucket list item to pedal the California coast from the Oregon border to the Mexican border, most of which he has already ridden.

Ready to follow his travelogue? Tap or click on the buttons below to see how far he gets, and to help end gun violence by donating to this high-impact billboard campaign. It’s a good way to vicariously enjoy the California coast, and a good way to show that ending gun violence is important to YOU!

TL;DR – WDID (Too long; didn’t read. Where do I donate?)

Don’t have time for yet more of John’s deathless prose? Go ahead, break his heart. But at least give him the benefit of the doubt by clicking on the Donate Now button below.
